Website Purpose and F.A.Q.
What is the purpose of this website?
The goal of this site is to become a communication hub for the diverse communities interested in quantitative imaging within the University of Edinburgh. The main aims are:
- To facilitate interactions between students and staff across the campus of the University (Physics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Medical School...)
- To propose and implement an open philosophy so that detailed discussions about quantitative imaging become available to the community in an organised and searchable manner (self-organised knowledge base).
- To serve as a hub for announcing events related to quantitative imaging in Edinburgh (See News and Events).
- To provide a centralised repository listing the resources and services in Edinburgh - see the Resources Category
- To give experts/course organisers a way to share their lecture/workshop content and obtain feedback.
- To make it simple for any member of the community to share ideas, obtain feedback and network with people sharing a common interest.
How is this website organised?
This site is a discussion forum where topics are organised into categories. Categories are listed in the Home page.
Quantitative imaging encompasses a broad spectrum of methods and technologies and is perhaps understood differently within different scientific disciplines. However, any quantitative imaging project is likely to require the elaboration of the following methodological pipeline:
Sample preparation -> Image Acquisition -> Image Processing and analysis -> Data exploration, mining and visualisation.
For this reason, the categories in this forum were chosen to make it possible to group topics in a way that is coherent with the above methodology.
In addition to categories, topics can and should be labelled with tags. Tags are particularly useful to group discussions in a non-hierarchical manner and to make it easier to search for specific content or to discover relevant content in the forum.
How can I obtain help in using the website?
